2014 Ph.D Admissions into NIT Manipur

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Admission to PhD Program in the Department of Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Humanities & Basic Sciences (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).

Applications are invited for admission to PhD Programme in the following Departments for
July Academic Semester 2014-15 Session.

1.  Computer Science and Engineering 
2.  Electrical and Electronics Engineering 
3.  Electronics and Communication Engineering 
4.  Humanities and Basic Sciences 

• Mathematics 
• 2. Physics 
• 3. Chemistry (Physical/Inorganic) 

CATEGORY 

The Institute admits PhD students under the following Categories: 

1. Regular 

2. Sponsored (Full Time) 

3. Part-time 

4. Project Staff 

5. External 

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC is applicable as per Govt. of India rules. 

ELIGIBILITY 

The candidates for Ph.D. Programme may be offered admission, based on certain minimum 

academic requirements to be satisfied by the candidates as given below: 

1) Engineering and Technology: Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an 

appropriate area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula 

prescribed by the University/Institute. 

OR 

Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record and with a CPI 

equivalent to 70% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by the University/Institute. 

Those Candidates who qualify GATE will be given preference. 

2) Sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics): Master Degree in Science in an appropriate 

area with a minimum CPI equivalent to 60% of marks as per conversion formula prescribed by 

the University/Institute. 

Those Candidates who qualify GATE/UGC-NET will be given preference.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST 

 The completed application form must be accompanied by the following documents:

i) Photocopy of marks sheet/Grade card of the secondary, higher secondary board and other 

university examinations. 

ii) Photocopy of proof of date of birth. 

iii) Photocopy of proper category(OBC/SC/ST/PH etc.) certificate from the competent authority. 

iv) Form I/II/III/IV. 

v) Four passport size photographs. 

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE 

The admission to Ph.D. Programme will be on the basis of weightage as given below: 

 Overall academic performance (to be fixed by the PhD Admission Committee): 70% 

 Interview conducted by the Department : 30%

Intimation regarding test/interview (to be posted on institute website) 02/05/2014 (Friday) 

Date of Written Test (students who did not qualify NET/GATE) 10/05/2014 (Saturday) 

Date of interview at NIT Manipur. 11/05/2014 (Sunday) 

Date of announcement of result. 15/05/2014 (Thursday) 

Date of admission. 07-08 July 2014

The filled up Application Form must be accompanied with an Application Fee of Rs. 300/- (for General/OBC) or Rs. 150/- (for SC/ST) in the form of crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour Director NIT Manipur, payable at Imphal.
